  Arriving at the Bistro with 2 small children the waitress wanted to seat us next to the bar which is not divided from the restaurant. We had to insist that we be seated away from the bar and once we did we were provided with a great couple of tables joined together. The menu has a good variety that should suit almost any taste, kids meals are provided.
  I had the Lamb shanks and my wife had the Atlantic Salmon with the kids going for the usual fish and chips however my son only had a bowl of chips (the same price as a meal OUCH). Entree was Garlic bread at $6.50 which ended up being 4 small slices of bread, however it was tasty. Service was pleasant but slow even though the restaurant was fairly empty.
  The kids fish and chips were adequate but a bit soggy.
  The Lamb Shanks ended up being A lamb shank and although well cooked was fairly bland. My wife's Atlantic salmon was "Lovely". Service portions were average for a restaurant but a bit on the small side for a pub.
  Dessert was ordered for the kids (frog in a pond) and it seemed to take forever to arrive. Our desserts were small baked desserts which were fresh and very tasty!
  The bill included drinks which pushed the price over the $110 mark.
  The atmosphere was friendly and the Hotel itself, although showing signs of needing a scrub here and there (The evap cooler vents), was clean.
  Was it worth the price ...no
  Would I go again... no
  Overall I would rate it as overpriced for a family outing to a pub. I compare this to a similar meal I had at the nearby "Typhoon" restaurant where I found better service, cheaper, tastier and more filling food.
  Sorry to say I won't be returning in a hurry.

  Wow, Bendigo offers some great eateries bet the Mount Edgecombe Hotel in Quarry Hill offers a truly delightful culinary dining experience without ever having to venture too far from home. With a constantly changing extensive menu the Edgy (as it's locally known) always caters for all tastes. I particularly enjoy the HUGE Rib Eye Steak when it's on the menu, also lovely is the Curry and variety of entrees available. Prices are reasonable, probably average pub prices but certainly significantly less than comparable dishes at other exclusive restaurants in the Bendigo. Service is always warm and friendly and often provided by the hotels owner Rab.
